Wood Turning Basics

  • Blue Heron Woodworking (map)

Wood turning is one of the fastest growing segments of the woodworking community. See what all of the excitement is about during this basic wood turning class. Students will learn lathe safety and fundamental cuts using basic lathe tools.

In this class students will design and turn a candlestick, honey dipper, or other simple turning that can be taken home after the class.

The Wood Turning Basics class will focus on turning between centers (spindle work) which is the basis all lathe work. Bowls and other more advanced turning techniques are taught in the Advanced Wood Turning classes.
